My Bio

A little more about me…

I was born in the UK, and having spent most of my life in England, Zimbabwe and South Africa, I am currently living in Panama with my husband, Clint, our dog, Merlo and our horse, Whiskey. I am so blessed to have three incredible children, a son and two daughters.

I definitely inherited the travelling bug from my dad, and there are still so many places in the world that I want to see. Italy, South Korea and Japan are currently on my list, but that’s just the start!

My Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor of Arts Degree, specialising in Languages
  • Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE)
  • 120-Hour TEFL Certificate
  • 30-Hour Teach IELTS Exam Preparation Course
  • 30-Hour Teach TOEFL Exam Preparation Course

  • 16+ years of teaching English, both in the classroom and online

My classroom experience involved teaching English to a range of students aged between 13 and 18 years in a multicultural secondary school in South Africa.  This not only gave me an extensive knowledge of all aspects of the English language, but also a great deal of experience working with students from a broad spectrum of multicultural backgrounds.  My transition to online teaching happened when I moved from South Africa to the UK, and I love the fact that I can continue to teach English within a more flexible environment.  I have already worked with some wonderful young people, and it is a privilege to help these students as they embark on their language journey and achieve their learning goals.  Having studied foreign languages myself at both school and university, I am able to relate to students learning additional languages, and I really know how challenging it can be!  This gives me patience and compassion for students, as well as an understanding of how they learn.

My Interests

I have always loved reading (an interest that I try to pass on to my students), and I read a great deal during my spare time, alongside swimming in the warm Pacific Ocean, nature walks, dancing, baking and listening to music.
